here’s my story…
Hi! I’m Linda, the artist behind Hui Design Studio
I’m so glad you are here joining me on this journey as explore new boundaries around my favourite mediums watercolour and acrylics and turning them into one of a kind surface patterns and prints.
Hui is my given Mandarin name, 慧, which is the Chinese character for wisdom and brightness.
It is my hope that my art brings a lightness to hearts and brands through surface pattern design, repeat prints and original art prints.
My Art
I gravitate towards painting in soft pastel tones, love being inspired by eras past, the natural heritage and cultural evolution of this sunny isle city I live in and the surrounding Asia region.
Using my favourite mediums watercolour and acrylics, I love exploring light airy abstracts and dreamy florals. My take on South-east Asian heritage and culture.
I believe art sparks conversations, can evoke a sense of nostalgia and peace, what we can do more of in this fast paced changing world we all share in.
Past Work & Looking Ahead
I’m a self taught artist, and have been painting on and off since school days. And had really leaned into watercolour and acrylics in the last 4 years while designing watercolour and calligraphy wedding invitations.
Hui Design Studios will be all about surface pattern designs, repeat prints, which I am very excited for and have learnt from the amazing Australian Artist and Surface Pattern Designer, Cass Deller ! I’ll also be exploring more of various mediums and leaning into abstract styles and my watercolour designs! Stay tuned!
