Art Licensing is when a brand loans or “rents” art work to use in their business. Art work can be used on branding (eg. packaging) or printed on products.

Art Licensing can be Exclusive to the brand or Non-Exclusive.

We are like a brand’s outsourced design department. Get fresh patterns, ready-to-use, all year round for collection drops!

Exclusive Licensing means a brand can License a design from Hui Design Studio with terms agreed upon, including:

• Exclusivity to product(s) category(s)

• License Territory (eg. country, region, or worldwide usage)

• Duration of License (typically 2 years for most products)

Brands get the first opportunity to renew the license upon the end of the agreed duration. Otherwise, the pattern design can be released for licensing to other brands.

Non-Exclusive Licensing means a brand can license a design from Hui Design Studio, to be printed onto the brand’s products. At the same time, other companies can license the same design.

Hui Design Studio will retain the copyright for the design in both Exclusive and Non-Exclusive Licensing.

As with all services at Hui Design Studio, I aim to make the process as smooth and easy for the brand as I can. Treat us as your design department, just outsourced!

After all the formalities, we usually start with crafting a story for your custom pattern(s) usually via a moodboard, or we can use what moodboard you have been working on. Read more about the process here.
