A Morning By the Lake

A Morning by the Lake, this Pattern Collection was inspired by the time my hubby and I took out to be alone at the very peaceful lake garden near where we live. We took time out for ourselves after dropping our big kid off at school, just being on our own and exploring the lake, taking in nature.. I remember at the time we have been trying for a second child for about 5 years and it just wasn’t our time. We finally tried IVF after a miscarriage the last Christmas and were finally pregnant!!

Exploring the lake really felt very peaceful, and spending time together as a couple felt really special - It felt great to really step back and focus on ourselves instead over the tension and stress we have been going through the last 5 years.

There was a lot of flora and fauna at the lake, bright red flowers called pagoda flowers, dusty blue plumbago. And we saw some water hens. dragon flies, and even some otters.

I poured all these feelings into creating this mini collection, and I’m hoping to release a part two of this collection from a time we went back to the lake with our second born!

Here’s a little peek of me sketching out ideas and hand-painting these watercolor lines for an abstract lake pattern design to mimic the natural ebbs and flows of the lake.

My hope is that someone be moved by these patterns as much as I was making them.
